Impact Evaluation of USAID BHA-Funded Food Security Project in Honduras
4 December 2024
i-APS recently completed an impact evaluation, assessing the impact and cost-effectiveness of the ADRA TRANSFER project, a USAID BHA-funded initiative aimed at improving food security in Honduras. As part of the Humanitarian Assistance Evidence Cycle (HAEC), the evaluation aimed to assess the effectiveness of the project's innovative approach to sorghum cultivation.
Key Focus Areas:
- Impact Assessment: Evaluating the project's impact on food security, agriculture, economic recovery, and market systems.
- Innovative Approach: Assessing the effectiveness of reintroducing sorghum cultivation as a drought-resistant alternative to basic grains in extreme climate-prone regions.
- Data Collection: Conducting primary data collection in Honduras to gather insights from beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Our Approach:
- Expert-Led Team: Utilizing a team of experienced technical experts based in Colombia to ensure high-quality evaluation.
- Rigorous Methodology: Employing a robust evaluation design to measure project outcomes accurately. Evaluation utilized inverse probability weighting (IPW) and difference-in-differences as a robustness check.
Data-Driven Insights: Analyzing collected data to provide evidence-based recommendations for future programs for use by USAID BHA and implementing partners in extreme-climate regions.
